West Reading Borough Council is currently considering the following ordinance amendments. Please note that Borough Council may make amendments before final approval. The Borough Council reviews, recommends, and passes local ordinances through civic engagement.
These amendments would remove three handicapped parking spaces on Chestnut Street and Sycamore Road, and relocate one handicapped parking space on the 100 Block of Tulpehocken Avenue.Â
These amendments would regulate how and when to temporarily close roads for events and construction activity and provide provisions to issue citations and fines for violations. The police department and mayor would approve temporary emergency road closures, and Borough Council would approve special event closures for 250 or more people lasting more than two hours. Â
Borough Council plans to vote on adopting these amendments during the Council meeting on Tuesday, November 17, 2026, at 7:00 p.m.Â
